Scarlett Rose Delecce was born on December
15th, 2014. She was 5 pounds and 18 inches long! When she was born, she was diagnosed with an issue with her brain. She had some fluid on one side of it. Even with this complication, they released us from the hospital and said it was OK for her to go home two days later, on December 17th.
She was scheduled to have surgey at one month old. On December 28th, we went to her pediatrician for a weight check. They said that she looked a little yellow and send her for bloodwork. That night when we got home, we did our normal bedtime routine. It was bath night, so she had a nice bath and I nursed her to bed at 10pm.
She woke up at 6am to eat, so I fed her and she went back to sleep. At 830am I went in to wake her up, only to find her unresponsive. I immediately called 911 and performed CPR on her. The ambulance rushed her to the hospital and they tried to revive her. The doctor told us we needed to be with her, and at 10:02am they pronounced her dead. She died on December 29th 2014 at just 13 days old. They claim that she died from unexpected infant death, but deep down I don’t believe that. I believe she died from her fluid in her brain. We miss Scarlett every second of every day, and wish things could somehow have been different.
